I am a recent graduate from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (May 1998). I received a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering. For the past five years I have been employed by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). My primary tasks have been to test and document software written for the HAWK, UAV, and IFTE projects. I am currently developing a Data Link Emulator in C++ and Ada for a TSQ-73 upgrade for Spain.
Since my father was in the U.S. Army, I was able to live many places that most people never get to go to. I lived in Hawaii for five years, Texas for two years, Kentucky for three years, and I've lived in Alabama for the past thirteen years.
I have been interested in computers since I was about twelve years old. I only became interested in genealogy after my father passed away in 1995. I wanted to learn more about his family so that when I have children someday, they will know more about where they came from.
Since beginning the research of my family's heritage, I have done many things online to share it with others. I have created a web site that provides a lot of information about the Adkins family in West Virginia and other parts of the country. I have a database of over 11500 individuals in HTML format for others to search through. This site has been very rewarding, because daily I receive email from people that were able to fill in the gaps of their family tree. I have started the Adkins Family Discussion List for people researching the Adkins and related spellings. I am also the county volunteer for the Lincoln County, West Virginia GenWeb Project. This site provides researchers with information about Lincoln County, such as its origins, family genealogies, books related to the county, and queries posted by people researching in the county.
When I'm not doing something on my computer, my other interests include going to Las Vegas once or twice a year, collecting shot glasses, and playing basketball.
