James Johnnie Adkins was born March 4, 1949 in Hager, WV and died July 30, 1995 in Huntsville, AL. JJ was the son of Herbert and Reba Adkins. JJ was also known as Johnnie by those who loved him. Johnnie was one of fifteen children, 11 girls and 4 boys.
Johnnie retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service as a CW3. He then went to work at Computer Sciences Corporation in Huntsville until his death.
Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, and son, James. He is also survived by seven sisters and two brothers.
One of the things in which JJ enjoyed most was computers. He was fascinated by computers and always wanted to learn more about what they could do. Because we only got connected to the Internet a few months before his death, he had only a little experience on it. He would have really found the Internet to be a great place to explore new things. Because of JJ, I have become very interested in computers, and I'm even studying to become a Computer Engineer now.
